A lot of time has passed, and a whole lot of water has run under the bridge, since I turned my attention to my blog. Life has changed in many ways and I’ve been chasing after a new “normal routine” in a way that just didn’t allow for much time or focus on blogging.
Is it too late to pick it back up and try again? Or have I fallen so far behind the pace that I’ve been left in the dust?
One thing is for certain. Blogging and social media activity has certainly changed in the last couple of years. I have lamented this same issue in previous posts. But, the defining characteristic of online endeavors is the fast pace at which everything seems to move. It truly is difficult to keep up at times, particularly if you are part-time and focused more on daily Real Life.
Pondering my dilemma of trying to revive regular posting, I recently made a foray into Substack. My heavens, that was a whole new learning experience – which, as of this time, has totally escaped my grasp! It is like a social media feed and blog all rolled into one. Unfortunately, the more I study it, the less I get it…and I haven’t been able to figure out which way to jump!
I even went back over to my old Blogger site, which totally refreshed my memory on why I selected another platform. It feels so awkwardly primitive now – and totally inhibits my desire to customize Janie’s Porch.
So, here I am. Back at WordPress, with my simple plan and my own domain name safely intact. Feels a bit like coming home and makes me want to share my words again.
As I mentioned, there have been some life changes since my last post in October 2023. I will definitely share some of the highlights in upcoming posts – because if I do it all right now, well, you’ll be overwhelmed. As will I.
But, one thing I want to share immediately is that my husband and I have entered a new chapter in life – RETIREMENT! With that have come many changes and challenges, about which I will probably pontificate at a later date.
For now, I will just say that we are still finding our way on this new, ever-evolving path. Who knows for sure what is around the next curve? Certainly not us! But, thank goodness we have each other and will navigate it together!
